Mental Illness Awareness Week

Established by the U.S. Congress in 1990, Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) is a recognition of efforts made by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to educate and increase awareness about mental illness. MIAW also coincides with World Mental Health Day (October 10), an international effort to raise awareness of mental illness as a global problem.
